Moka Java is the first known coffee blend. It was originally a combination of coffees from Yemen, which passed through the port of Mocha, and the Indonesian island of Java. Because the Yemen coffee had a chocolate-like character, the word "mocha" eventually became associated with chocolate flavor. These days there are many variations of the recipe, most combining coffees from Africa and Indonesia.
